Not only is it pretty much fail-proof, but it\u2019s casual enough to serve after a weekday dinner and decadent enough for special occasions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ingredients<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">FOR THE BATTER:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>1\/2 cup unsalted butter<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 1\/2 cups granulated sugar<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 cups all-purpose flour<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 teaspoons baking powder<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\/4 teaspoon salt<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 cup milk<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 teaspoons vanilla extract<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">FOR THE TOPPING:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>2 cups granulated sugar<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>3 cups boiling water<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Vanilla ice cream, for serving<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How To Make Southern Chocolate Cobbler<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Preheat oven to 350\u00b0F.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Place butter in a 9\u00d713-inch baking dish and put in oven. Once butter has melted, remove and set aside.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stir together the 1 1\/2 cups sugar, 4 tablespoons cocoa powder, flour, milk, baking powder, salt, and vanilla extract. Spoon into baking dish over melted butter, but do not stir.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In a separate bowl, mix together the 2 cups sugar and 1\/2 cup cocoa powder. Sprinkle over batter in pan. Pour boiling water over topping, but again do not stir.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bake until top has set, 35-40 minutes. The bottom will be loose and a bit gooey.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Let cool 15 minutes before serving.
